Calculating Number of Bags of Concrete and Volume for your Home Project
How to calculate number of concrete bags needed for your your next masonry work
Now let me show you how to use your Home ProjectCalc to determine how much concrete you need for small jobs or larger jobs. First off, a small job will give you how many bags you need based on the default bag size of .67 cubic feet, which is your standard 80 pound bag. So if you had a walkway that was 8 feet by 3 feet by
4 inches thick The cubic volume is going to be 8 cubic feet. Now I just hit the Concrete key and it'll tell me that I need 12 of those 80 pound bags. If those are going for $3.25 each - times 3.25 hit convert and over the decimal point key is the cost function. So it's about $39 for the concrete. Now if you have a slightly larger job, a bulk concrete
calculation, maybe a patio. Say it's 12 feet 7 inches by 10 feet 8 inches. There's your square footage. Let's have that poured four inches thick - times four inches equals 44 cubic feet but with concrete you needed convert to yards. 1.65 yards. You might want to add five percent for waste - plus five percent. So you'd need to call your local Ready Mix and ask them to bring out about 1
3/4 yards. So that's a quick overview on the concrete function. For more details you can download our user's guide at www.calculated.com/support.
