The Sauganash Historic District in Forest Glen.
Forest Glen is one of the oldest neighborhoods on the Northwest side of Chicago and it has approximately 550 residences. The area has been defined by the Chicago River on its North border, Foster Ave. on South, Cicero Ave. on east and Metra Milwaukee District North line on West.

Edgebrook is an historical landmark district, a home to the Billy Caldwell Golf Course and the Edgebrook Golf Course, was once part of the Sauganash land tract, annexed by Chicago in 1889. Along with Wildwood and North Edgebrook, the three communities are often called Edgebrook.

Old Edgebrook is a very small area nudged between Central Ave. – Devon Ave. and the Edgebrook Golf Course, that consists of numerous, splendid homes that were originally designed and constructed, beginning at 1890’s, for railroad officials.

Indian Woods, also called South Edgebrook, occupies areas across the North Branch Chicago River and Central Ave. starting at Old Edgebrook, ending at Central Avenue on West, the Edgebrook Woods Forest Preserve on North and East, and Elston Ave. on South. One unique detail for this community is a way it was marked by several wooden signs surrounding it for dacades.

Wildwood – a triangular shape defining the Wildwood community is enclosed between Lehigh Ave., Caldwell Ave., Mendota Avenue, and Lightfoot Avenue.

North Edgebrook is located to the north of Wildwood community.

Sauganash, once part of the Sauganash land tract, got is name after Billy Caldwell, also known as Sauganash – an Indian word that means English-speaking.These days, Sauganash neighborhood hosts three churches: Sauganash Community Church, a non-denominational Protestant church; Bride of Christ Church; and Queen of All Saints, a Roman Catholic Basilica. There are numerous, distinctive residential homes in this area, many of them marvels of masonry work.

The Sauganash neighborhood stretches between Devon Ave., Bryn Mawr Ave., the Edens Expressway, and the Valley Line bike trail along its East border
